Thanks for stopping by!
My name is Nicole. I’m a 21 year old animal lover from New England. Growing up with a house full of paws is what I was known for. “3 Cats and 3 Dogs? You’re family is crazy!”, is a phrase I would hear QUITE often.
I’ve raised everything from fish to turtles, hamsters to guinea pigs, cats to dogs.. Any animal you can find in a pet store, I probably convinced my parents to let me have at some point in my childhood. I’m also the girl you see on Facebook ranting and raving about people abusing and abandoning their fur babies. Or the one sobbing over cute success stories and happy pets.
I have an eye for all things design, and I love what I do. But my true passion is in the animal world. I never wanted to be a vet, I always wanted to be an animal rescue owner.
With that being said, A Girl & Her Pup is a blog I decided to start in order to spread dog care knowledge, dog facts, the lifestyle of a dog mom, and to raise awareness about animal welfare. I want to take others who are in the same dog bowl as I am and bring them on my journey. I want to make my dream come true and (eventually) open a dog rescue.
Why dogs? Because I had the pleasure of adopting Nala just after my 21st birthday. Nala was a Texas pup. She traveled over 2,000 miles, which ended up being a little under 48 hours on a van with about 15 other adopted dogs. I’ve put in a lot of effort, patience, time and money; but her happiness is even more rewarding knowing what her future in a high kill shelter could have looked like. I was able to feel the power of adoption. The happiness, the relief, the love, and all the other emotions (good and bad) that come along with saving an animal. It was a long process, but it was a process worth doing.
So, if you’re an animal lover (or just a dog lover), I hope you come on this journey with me.
